There are 2 separate toucan crossings (one on each side of the central reservation) that you need to cross from the southbound cycle lane across Blackfriars Bridge to get into the National Cycle Network route on Upper Ground. These crossings used to sync up well, so you'd be able to get from one pavement to the other on, effectively, one cross. Now, the timings and programmes have been changed, so you tend to get stuck for 2 minutes on the central reservation waiting for the second crossing to go green. This is (presumably) a direct result of a decision to 'smooth traffic flow' - but it comes at the direct expense of pedestrian and bike flow, and adds unnecessary time to my journey (and hundreds of others) each morning.
